Copy coloring pages give you the best of both worlds on one sheet: a finished, fully colored picture on the top half and the same picture as clean black outlines on the bottom half. You look at the colored version, then color the outline to match it, or take it as a starting point and invent your own palette. The dashed line across the middle is a fold or cut line, so the finished piece can stand on its own without the guide.
For children this format is a gentle first lesson in color: they see where the blue goes, where the orange goes, and they learn to look closely and copy what they see. It is a favorite of preschool teachers and homeschooling parents for exactly that reason. For grown-ups it simply takes the guesswork out of a relaxing coloring session, and the colored half makes a cheerful little print on its own.
Every sheet here is an original illustration drawn for Papaya Ink, with friendly animal and fairy tale heroes in bright, simple scenes. Click the picture – PDF opens, US Letter, fits A4. A color printer shows the guide at its best, but a black-and-white printer works too: the guide prints in soft gray tones and the outline half stays crisp and ready to color. All pages are free for personal and classroom use.

Fun Things to Make with These Coloring Pages
- Fold along the dashed line so the colored guide stands up behind the outline while you color, like a tiny easel.
- Cut the sheet in half and glue the two pictures side by side in a scrapbook as a before-and-after page.
- Play a memory game: study the colored half for one minute, fold it away, and color the outline from memory.
- Change one thing on purpose – a different sky, a different fur color – and see how the mood of the picture changes.
- Color the outline with a completely different palette than the guide and hang both halves together as a matching pair.
- Cut out the colored half and use it as a postcard or a lunchbox note.
- For a small group, hand each child the same sheet and compare how differently everyone copied the guide.
- Laminate the colored half and keep it as a reusable reference card for future coloring sessions.
