Color guide coloring pages are regular full-size coloring sheets with one small addition: a finished, fully colored version of the same picture sits in the corner of the page. The outline takes up the whole sheet, exactly as it should, and the little colored guide is there whenever you want to check which shade goes where. Follow it closely, borrow only the parts you like, or ignore it and invent your own palette – it is a suggestion, never a rule.
This is the format used in many adult coloring books, and it works just as well at the kitchen table. Children get a friendly hint that keeps them from getting stuck, beginners get confidence, and experienced colorists get a quick reference for shading and color balance without having to imagine the finished piece first. Because the guide is small, it never competes with the outline for space.
Every sheet is an original illustration drawn for Papaya Ink, with animal heroes in playful adventures and cozy everyday scenes. Click the picture – PDF opens, US Letter, fits A4. A color printer shows the guide in full color; on a black-and-white printer the guide prints in gray tones and the outline stays clean and crisp, so the page is fully usable either way. All pages are free for personal and classroom use.

Fun Things to Make with These Coloring Pages
- Cover the guide with a sticky note and color from memory, then peel it off and compare.
- Pick one color from the guide to change on purpose and see how the whole scene shifts.
- Cut out the guide and glue it to the back of the finished page as a tiny "before" picture.
- Use the guide as a color-mixing exercise: try to match each shade with pencils before starting.
- Color the page in the guide's palette, then color a second copy in the opposite colors.
- Keep the cut-out guides in a small box as a collection of miniature cards.
- For a group, color one sheet each with the guide and one without, and vote on the favorites.
- Frame the finished page with the little guide tucked into the corner of the mat.
