Puppies have two settings, full speed and fast asleep, and these puppy coloring pages mostly catch the first one: mid-pounce, mid-sniff, nose in a puddle, something in the mouth that should not be there. Every sheet is a complete scene with a background to settle into – gardens, kitchens, beaches, snow – rather than one puppy floating on an empty page. The breeds run from pocket-sized to the kind that will outgrow the couch, and every one of them is an original Papaya Ink drawing.
There are two kinds of page here, and the Show me buttons above the grid sort them. Black-and-white pages are plain line art. Pages with a color sample carry a finished color version on the top half and the same outline on the bottom, with a dashed line between them: color from the sample, cut it off and keep it as a card, or ignore it and go your own way. Click any picture and the PDF opens in a new tab, sized for US Letter and fitting A4 with a small margin. A note for black-and-white printers: the color sample will come out as a soft gray, and the line art underneath prints perfectly.
Fur is the main event on a puppy page. Short strokes that follow the direction of the coat look better than flat fill, and two shades of the same color – one for the body, a darker one in the shadows under the ears and belly – do more than a whole box of pencils. Leave the highlight in each eye white, color the nose last so it stays crisp, and give the background a lighter hand than the dog, so the puppy stays the thing you look at first.

8 Ways to Use Your Finished Puppy Pages
- Fur without outlines: on the Pomeranian sheet, leave the puppy white and build the fluff with short pencil strokes in two shades of cream and apricot. It reads as fur from across the room and takes about twenty minutes.
- Bone-cake birthday card: color the party scene, trim it to the bone cake and the four guests, glue it on folded cardstock and write the name on the cake. Better than anything in the greeting-card aisle.
- Four-season strip: the swimming lesson, the leaf pile, the Christmas tree and the picnic under the blossoms. Color all four, mount them in a row on one long strip of black paper and you have a puppy calendar for the hallway.
- Sky challenge on the astronaut sheet: gradient a dark blue to purple sky with a blending stump and leave the stars untouched. The white paper does the glowing for you.
- Night-light lantern: color the campfire sheet, cut it into a cylinder around a battery tea light and the stars and flames come through the paper.
- Job-day poster: the firefighter, the mail carrier, the sea captain and the lemonade stand make a four-sheet set for a classroom or a playroom wall – one puppy, one job.
- Frame the tulip bicycle: the girl with the cocker spaniel in the basket is the most detailed sheet here. Color it slowly in soft spring tones, matte it on cream board and it holds its own in a hallway gallery.
- Bookmark from the treehouse sheet: color it, cut a tall strip through the boy, the book and the Shiba Inu, laminate it or cover it with clear tape, and punch a hole for a ribbon.
