Round cheeks, big bright eyes and a tail covered in scales that beg for color – cute mermaid coloring pages are an easy way to spend a calm half hour under the sea. Every sheet here is an original Papaya Ink drawing: no characters borrowed from any film or show, just our own mermaids and the company they keep down there – fish, seahorses and other gentle sea creatures. Styles run from chunky kawaii and chibi mermaids with simple shapes to elegant, finely detailed mermaids in pearls and lace.
The pages come in two kinds. Classic black and white sheets are full-page line art, ready for your own palette. Color sample sheets show the finished picture in full color on the top half and the same drawing as clean line art below, with a dashed line between them – copy the palette shade for shade, or treat it as a suggestion and invent your own ocean. The Show me buttons above the pictures switch between all pages, black and white only, or pages with a color sample. Click any picture and the PDF opens – it is sized for US Letter and fits A4 as well. On a black and white printer the color sample prints in gray, while the outlines stay crisp.
A few habits make mermaid coloring sheets come alive. Blend a few neighboring shades along the tail – teal into green, pink into violet – and leave a sliver of white paper on each scale for shine. Keep the water lighter near the top of the scene and deeper toward the sand, and the picture gains depth at once. Hair looks best in long strokes that follow the waves. The detailed sheets are made for adults and teens with fine-tip pens or sharp pencils; the simpler, bolder ones are friendly to younger hands and to anyone who wants a quick, cheerful page.

Fun Things to Make with These Coloring Pages
- Shimmer tails – when the coloring is done, trace a handful of scales with a glitter gel pen or a metallic marker so the tail catches the light.
- Before-and-after frames – cut along the dashed line and frame the color sample next to your own finished version.
- Salt-water backgrounds – print on heavier paper, brush blue watercolor over the water and sprinkle table salt on it while wet; brush the salt off when dry for a bubbly, sea-foam texture.
- Bookmarks – cut a finished mermaid out as a tall strip, glue it to cardstock, punch a hole at the top and tie on a ribbon.
- Under-the-sea garland – cut out colored mermaids and their sea friends and string them on twine with paper shells in between for a birthday or a bedroom wall.
- Greeting cards – fold a piece of cardstock in half and mount a trimmed mermaid on the front for the ocean lover in your life.
- Stick puppets – glue cut-out figures to craft sticks and turn a shoebox painted blue into a small ocean stage.
- Palette swap – print the same page again and ignore the sample: try sunset corals and golds where the original used blues, and compare the mood.
