The capybara is the largest rodent on Earth and one of the calmest animals in South America. It spends its days grazing on riverbanks and soaking in shallow water, and it lets birds perch on its back without the slightest fuss. These capybara coloring pages catch that easygoing mood in a wide range of styles: realistic and cute, kawaii and easy, stained glass, geometric, origami, folk art and botanical mandala. Every capybara here is an original Papaya Ink drawing.
Click any picture and the PDF opens in a new tab, sized for US Letter and fitting A4 without adjustment; the Download All button saves the whole collection as one PDF book. For the coat, skip flat brown: layer burnt sienna over light ochre and finish with a touch of gray. Detailed pages suit adults with fine pencils or gel pens, while the bold easy ones are good for kids and quick evenings.

Fun Things to Make with These Coloring Pages
- Capybara hot spring diorama – color a capybara, cut it out and stand it in a shallow box lined with blue paper. Add paper orange slices floating around it for a cozy capybara spa scene.
- Bird-on-the-back mobile – capybaras famously let birds ride on them. Color a few capybaras and some small paper birds, then hang everything from a stick with thread so the birds perch just above.
- Fur texture test – color the same outline with colored pencils, crayons and watercolor pencils, then compare which medium gives the most convincing coarse coat. A good warm-up before a detailed page.
- Calm-down card – color a capybara, write a short breathing reminder on the back and keep it on a desk, in a planner or in a lunch box.
- Window glow – color a page with markers, rub a little baby oil on the back with a cotton pad and let it dry. The paper turns translucent and lights up when taped to a sunny window.
- Jigsaw puzzle – glue a finished page onto thin cardboard, draw wavy lines on the back and cut along them. Store the pieces in an envelope with a small copy of the picture glued on the front.
- Chill birthday card – fold cardstock in half, glue a cut-out capybara on the front and write "Have a totally chill birthday" inside. It works for kids and grown-ups alike.
- Gift tags – print a page at reduced scale, color it, cut out the capybara with a narrow white border and punch a hole for twine. Small, cheerful and quick to make.
