Birds are the rare coloring subject that works for everyone in the house. This collection gathers our free printable bird coloring pages in one place: garden songbirds, pond birds, a farmyard rooster, tropical show-offs, and a few sheets with feather work worth slowing down for. Every one of them was drawn for Papaya Ink, and every one is free, with nothing to sign up for.

Printing is the easy part. Click a picture and its PDF opens, sized for US Letter and set up to fit A4 just as well, so the sheet comes out clean whatever paper is in your tray. If you want the whole set at once, the Download All as One PDF Book button puts every page in this collection into a single file, which is handy for a classroom, a road trip folder, or a rainy Saturday.

The line work is mixed on purpose. Sheets like the birdhouse, the penguin family, and the little birds at their tea party have big, open shapes that crayons and small hands can handle easily. The peacock, the parrot, and the soaring eagle sit closer to adult coloring: fine feathers, layered leaves, and plenty of small spaces to work through with colored pencils. Pick by mood as much as by age, and print as many copies as you need for a class, a party table, or a quiet afternoon at home.

The newer sheets here come with a color sample. The top half of the page is the finished painting, the bottom half is the same scene in line art, and a dashed line between them marks where to cut so the sample can sit beside you while you color. The Show me buttons above the grid switch between black and white sheets, sheets with a color sample, or everything at once. One honest note: on a black and white printer the sample comes out gray, so those pages are worth printing in color.

10 Things to Make with These Bird Coloring Pages

Window art. Color the birdhouse page, cut around the roof and branch, and tape it to a window so the little bird looks out over your yard.
Pond mobile. Color the swan, the duck family, and the flamingo, cut out the birds, punch a hole in each one, and hang them from a stick at different heights.
Handmade cards. Fold a sheet of card stock, glue the finished lovebirds on the front, and you have a birthday card with no store bought twin.
Party invitations. Print the tea party page at half size, color it, and use it as the front of an invitation for a real one with juice and cookies.
Cotton ball snow. Color the penguin family, then glue thin wisps of cotton along the ice and across the sky for falling snow.
Day and night pair. Print the owl on a branch twice, color one in warm daylight colors and the other in deep blues, and hang the two side by side.
Feather color study. Fill every eye on the peacock tail with a different color combination, then step back and see which one reads best from across the room.
Journal cover. Color the eagle and its mountains, slip the page into a clear sleeve, and use it as the cover of a bird watching notebook.
