December is the month that happens mostly indoors. The days are the shortest of the year, the first real snow usually arrives, and life moves to the kitchen table, the window seat and the rug in front of the fire. These December coloring pages are about exactly that side of the month: hot drinks poured too full, paper snowflakes and the scraps they leave behind, bread dough and cinnamon, puzzles and story afternoons, wet mittens and the pets who always find the warmest spot in the house. Every scene is an original Papaya Ink drawing, and nearly all of them have a window somewhere in the frame with snow falling behind it – December outside, December inside.
Every picture here is a black-and-white line drawing. Click any one and the PDF opens in a new tab, ready to print or save. Pages are set up for US Letter and fit A4 without cropping, with the white margins built into the picture, so there is nothing to adjust before printing. The drawings range from simple single-subject pages to busy family scenes with stone fireplaces and patchwork quilts; the dense ones are marked Detailed in their captions, so you can pick by mood as well as by subject.
Most December pages are lit from inside: a lantern, a fire, a candle on the mantel. The trick is to decide where the light comes from and keep that side of the room warm – yellows, oranges, soft browns – while the window and everything beyond it stays cool: pale blue, lavender, gray. Snow is easier than it looks. Leave it the color of the paper and add a hint of blue only in the shadows under the drifts. Knitwear is where these pages come alive: sweaters, scarves, mittens and blankets are big flat shapes that take stripes, dots and zigzags, and no two of them have to match. Colored pencils handle the fine lines best; markers are fine for the big woolly shapes and the sky.

Fun Things to Make with These Coloring Pages
- Paper countdown chain – cut a colored page into strips, loop them into a chain with a dab of glue and tear one loop off each December morning. The chain gets shorter as the month runs out, which is the whole point.
- Frosted window card – color a page, then rub the edges of the picture with a white pencil or chalk pastel so it looks seen through a frosty pane. Fold a sheet of card around it and write your note inside.
- Homemade jigsaw – glue the colored page to thin cardboard, let it dry flat under a heavy book, and cut it into a dozen wobbly pieces. Keep them in an envelope for the next snowed-in afternoon.
- Knitwear garland – cut the colored mittens, scarves and sweaters out of several finished pages, punch a hole in each and thread them on a length of yarn. Hang it across a window or along a shelf for the month.
- Cocoa bar sign – color a kitchen scene, trim it and glue it to the front of a folded card. Write the house cocoa menu inside: marshmallow, peppermint, extra chocolate. Stand it next to the kettle.
- Snow globe picture – cut a circle from a colored page, glue it onto dark card, then dab white paint dots over the scene with the blunt end of a pencil. Add a small base below and the whole room is inside a globe.
- Breakfast placemat – color a page, laminate it or cover it with clear contact film, and use it as a placemat for the whole month. It wipes clean and survives cocoa spills.
- Jar lantern – color a page in warm tones, roll it into a tube around a glass jar and tape the ends together. Drop a battery tea light into the jar and the drawing glows from behind.
